Reality star who competed during the season Hannah Brown revealed her 2018 diagnosis of lymphedema.
Cam Ayala left quite an impression when he appeared during the Hannah Brown season “Bachelorette”, achieving the first rose before the show even began.
Reality star, who also enjoyed the stay “Bachelor in Paradise”, shared through his Instagram page the difficult decision to amputate his right leg as a result of his constant battle with lymphedema.

First diagnosed with an incurable disease in 2002, Ayala did not share this part of himself with the world until 2018, when he shared his story by posting on Instagram. It was two years after he nearly lost the same leg.
Lymphedema is a disorder in which tissue swells due to the accumulation of fluid that would otherwise drain through the body’s lymphatic system. In Ayala’s case, this material led to a right knee infection in 2014, and the final decision after 13 surgeries was amputation.
In that announcement, Ayala admitted that he “crippled fear and anxiety” over losing his leg. His leg was saved in 2016, dispelling those fears. Six years later, however, there were no other options and he seems to have come to terms with that.
Late last week, Ayala shared a video about himself how he last pulled on a full compression sheath, writing, “My FINAL workout with my 2 God-given legs.”

The next announcement came to him on Friday, and it shows him smiling with his leg tied after the procedure and declaring himself a ‘CAMputee’. There is even a short video in which he uses a walker to break through the hallway of a medical center in Texas, where he performed the procedure. He followed it on Sunday with more photos surrounded by loved ones and hospital staff.

In his last post before the amputation, Ayala exuded optimism, calling the moment both an end and a new beginning, a “new era … a new life … a rebirth.”
“I will get a new FIRST step … a new FIRST run, run and sprint,” he wrote in the headline of that post. “Another FIRST left-footed ride. And I can honestly say, a new FIRST love.”
He spoke of his faith helping him to carry it out, for it is also about new beginnings and “redemption worth suffering for.”
