The Simpsons: Hit and run it has been reworked as a beautiful open world game with new features. For those who are not aware of the original game, The Simpsons: Hit and run was a GTA-like game released during the PS2 era that allowed fans to experience the Springfield environment of a semi-open world. Due to the technical limitations of the game, Springfield is divided into levels, each with its own narrative purpose and a member of the Simpson family that can be played. It is generally considered one of the best licensed games because it is incredibly fun to drive through an animated city, hijack cars, push citizens and experience all the fun references. On top of that, it has aliens, which is always a good addition to any game.
There was a lot of that demand for remaster The Simpsons: Hit and Run and one fan seems to be trying to make it a reality. YouTuber reubs began to redo The Simpsons: Hit and run with modern remastered graphics, a continuous open world, not a game divided into levels or zones, or even multiplayer. It’s a pretty ambitious project, but Reubs said it’s done solely for entertainment purposes and will never actually be available to the public. Understandably, Reubs probably doesn’t want to risk any legal consequences from Fox / Disney, so this decision makes sense.
Still, given the fact possibility of remaster The Simpsons: Hit and run is set by one of the producers of the original game, this could lead to an official remaster. Given that there have been a lot of requests to remaster this cult game, support for the Reubs fan project could show Disney that there is a lot of interest in the official version of this one. After all, the desire for a remaster SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom it eventually resulted in THQ Nordic making it a reality.
