The United States will announce the purchase of a medium-and long-range ground-to-air defense system for Ukraine – CNN

President Joe Bidenwhich is currently meeting with the G7 leaders in Germany at the summit primarily aimed at Ukraine, recently published that the U.S. would provide Ukraine with “more advanced missile systems and ammunition” as its war with Russia continues. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to address Biden and other G7 leaders virtually on Monday.

In response to requests from Ukrainian forces, other military aid, including additional artillery ammunition and anti-battery radars, is likely to be announced this week. Ukrainian officials have called for a missile defense system, known as the NASAMS system, as weapons can hit targets more than 100 miles away, although Ukrainian forces are likely to have to be trained on those systems, the source said. The NASMAS system is the same one that protects Washington, DC, and the area around the nation’s capital.

The United States is constantly announcing additional security assistance to Ukraine. Last week, the Biden administration announced an additional $ 450 million in military aid to Ukraine, giving it four more multiple missile systems and artillery ammunition for other systems.
And earlier this month, the Biden administration said to provide an additional $ 1 billion in military aid to Ukraine, a package that includes shipments of additional howitzers, ammunition and coastal defense systems.
CNN reported last week that American estimates of the war increasingly predict a long and punitive battle in eastern Ukraine, with heavy losses in manpower and equipment on both sides.

U.S. officials believe Russian forces plan to sustain intense attacks in the east, marked by heavy artillery and missile attacks, with the intention of exhausting Ukrainian forces and NATO’s decision over time.

As for Ukraine, its military burns Soviet-era ammunition that fits older systems, and Western governments are faced with the difficult decision of whether to continue increasing their aid to the country, which Biden has already promised to do.

“We will continue to lead the world in providing historic assistance in support of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom,” the president wrote in a New York Times article last month.
