Brandy surprisingly performs with Jack Harlow at the BET – Variety Awards

Jack Harlow joined Brandy and Lil Wayne for his performance at the BET Awards on Sunday night. The rapper himself began his set by singing Lil Wayne’s song with “Poison” before Wayne briefly jumped in to deliver his own verse. Harlow also surprised the audience when his second guest, Brandy, took the stage to take on “First Class,” singing freestyle it premiered earlier this year.

The performance came in response to Harlow’s viral interview in which the 24-year-old could not identify Brandy’s 1998 “Angels In Disguise” and had no idea that the R&B singer was Raya J.’s sister.

“Let me introduce myself again, my name is / World Famous, one of the greatest / Living Legends, did I mention that my resume is amazing?” She began as she met Harlow on the catwalk. As the audience roared, Ray J could be seen excitedly jumping next to his sister on stage as she and Harlow closed the performance. The two of them hugged friendly with smiles on their faces as the last few notes of “First Class” echoed.

Additional performers for the night include Lizzo, Babyface, Chance the Rapper, Chlöe, Doechii, Ella Mai, Fireboy DML, Giveon, Joey Bada $$, Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin, Latto, Muni Long.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the BET Awards will honor the possible Sean “Diddy” Combs with a Lifetime Achievement Award, designed to pay tribute “to those who not only shaped the culture, but also to those who were leaders in raising the industry in an impressive way.”

The BET Awards are broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. See an updated list of winners here.
