Billie Joe Armstrong says he will renounce US citizenship because of Roe’s reversal against Wade – CNN

During a performance as part of the Hella Mega tour at London Stadium in the UK on Friday, Armstrong expressed his frustration by telling the crowd, “Fuck America. I’m fucking giving up my citizenship. I’m fucking coming here.”

He went on to say that there are “too many ** fools in the world to go back to that miserable fucking excuse for the state,” before urging fans to be prepared, saying, “You’ll get a lot more of me in the coming days.”

Armstrong is one of many American artists who have spoken out in recent days about Roe’s reversal against Wade. At the British Glastonbury Festival several performers, including Phoebe Bridgers,, Billie Eilish,, Kendrick Lamar and Olivia Rodrigohe condemned the decision.

Bridgers led the chanting of “F ** k the Supreme Court” and criticized “irrelevant mothers trying to tell us what to do with our fucking bodies,” while teen star Olivia Rodrigo brought Lily Allen to the stage and dedicated Allen’s song “F ** k You “five Supreme Court justices who voted in a majority opinion to overturn a significant verdict that protected abortion as a federal right in the U.S. for nearly 50 years.

Rodrigo described herself as “devastated and horrified” by the news before telling the Glastonbury audience that “so many women and so many girls will die because of this” and then dedicated the song to judges Samuel Alit, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett – who, as Rodrigo put it, “doesn’t care about freedom.”

Lamar, who performed as one of the festival’s last headliners on Sunday night, ended his powerful set with an appeal for women’s rights, chanting the words “God for women’s rights, they judge you, they judge Christ” as he wore a crown of thorns soaked in fake blood .
