If you have any skills, whether it’s playing an instrument, taking pictures, or repairing things around the house, there are plenty of ways to earn money with them. There are also lots of ways to lose money with them, for example, if you start charging people to use your music in their films without securing the proper copyright permission first.
To avoid such costly mistakes (and to ensure you actually make money with your skill), keep these six ways to make money with your skill in mind while monetizing your talent.
1) Create a Routine
Set up a weekly routine for posting on your blog, creating new posts, writing email messages and other skills. Review your past week and do what you can to take care of unfinished business and make changes where needed. The more organized you are, the less likely it is that you’ll forget something important.
Stay focused by setting time limits for each task or project and sticking to them. Stay in Touch: Reach out to clients, colleagues and others in your field of expertise at least once a month. Leave comments on blogs relevant to your industry, connect with people on social media sites such as LinkedIn or Twitter and stay active in online forums.
2) Be Fearless
What makes you an expert in your field? What are you skilled at that others might be too shy or not qualified enough to do? There are a million ways that you can profit from this skill. From freelancing sites like Upwork, Fiverr, and TaskRabbit to selling items on Etsy, there is a huge market out there for your talent.
Stop sitting on the sidelines of life waiting for someone else to take action. You have what it takes. So what are you waiting for?
3) Showcase Your Talent
You have a skill. You know you can do something well and there are other people who need what you can provide them. You’ve always wanted your own business, but you’re not sure how to get started or where to start. Getting started may seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Take a step back and think about your skills and then think about how those could be translated into services for others, if it couldn’t already be that way for some reason.
4) Use Instagram Hashtags
If you’re skilled in something like photography, interior design, or food making, there are a number of ways to make money through social media! And if your skills aren’t exactly in one of those fields, it’s not a problem – there are still plenty of things you can post about that have the potential for income. For example, if you live near an art gallery, take pictures of paintings and post them on Instagram; similarly, restaurants can create their own Moment on Facebook to advertise new dishes they’ll be serving.
5) Take Advantage of Opportunities
If you are an expert in your field, then these opportunities should be all around you. Even if you’re not really feeling like writing blog, try out freelancing or take a part-time job at a restaurant. Sell your own products on Etsy or make some extra cash by teaching classes online. There are plenty of ways to make money without ever leaving the comfort of your home office or even going outside. You just need to do some research and find what suits you best.
6) Monetize Your Work
As a freelance writer, I’m always coming up with new ways to create extra income. Today, we’re talking about how you can monetize your work. One way that’s been working for me lately is creating content for medical professionals who want website articles about their niche.
Another is taking short surveys for consumer products like makeup or electronics and then receive points towards buying more products. It also helps if you’re in a profession that has certifications because these are valuable to businesses as well. Finally, another option is teaching courses online – and it doesn’t have to be complicated!
